Established in 1964 by Richard S. Matsunaga, AIA, the firm has maintained a general practice of architecture. Over the years the firm has been a source of satisfaction by providing a high degree of aesthetically pleasing and technically sound projects, built upon a disciplined approach to solving basic human requirements within the context of project scopes. The members of the firm have taken a leading role in providing professional services in the field of architecture and its relationship to interior design, urban and environmental planning. In addition, the capabilities of the firm are further expanded into other disciplines, with a long successful history of cooperation with planners, engineers and others, who hold valuable knowledge in their special field of expertise. In keeping with its philosophy the firm’s name was changed to Team Pacific, Inc., in 1974. The new name reflected the ideals of a body of experts working together, contributing to an end product which can truly be said to be the work of a TEAM. The firm’s name was recently changed from Team Pacific, Inc., back to the original corporate name of Richard Matsunaga & Associates, Architects Inc. to reemphasize the firm’s philosophy of total commitment to its working relationship with the client and body of experts contributing to an end product which can truly be said to be the work of a team. Philosophy A successful project requires a creative professional team in constant search for new and better solutions. Designs are shaped and reshaped through teams working together in mutual respect. To this end the members of our team illustrate a diversity in age, approach, and experience. The team desires fresh ideas to be tempered by years of training and experience, with the knowledge that what was done in the past was not always correct. Upward mobility in management is a necessity to permit younger members to set goals for the future and to realize that their dreams can be attained. Furthermore, avenues must be available for senior members as they move beyond the rigors of day to day design. “Satisfaction of the client is of utmost importance.” This does not mean catering to a client’s idiosyncrasies but identifying and solving the true needs of the client and creating a climate that ultimately results in overall fulfillment. |
