Richard S. Matsunaga, Founder Mr. Matsunaga started this firm in 1964, the same year he earned his architectural license in the State of Hawaii. His prior experience included employment with Philip C. Fisk, A.I.A.; Bruce P. Harden, A.I.A.; Lemmon, Freeth, Haines & Jones; and Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall. The firm grew under his leadership until his retirement in 1998. His legacy lives on through his philosophy of providing aesthetically pleasing designs that are functional and technically sound. |

Glenn M. Murata Mr. Murata’s architectural career started in 1969; in 1978 he became licensed in the State of Hawaii. He attended the University of Oregon and University of Hawaii, and graduated from the University of Hawaii. As a principal of the firm, he is involved in all aspects of projects including Site Planning, Design and Interior Design, Construction Documents and Construction Administration. He has been active in A.I.A. activities and many of its various committees. His professional affiliations include membership as a corporate member of the American Institute of Architects and Hawaii Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. |

Carl I. Nii A principal of the firm, Mr. Nii graduated from the University of Hawaii and attended the University of Illinois where he received a Master’s Degree in Architecture. To broaden his education he also studied at Tenri University in Nara, Japan and traveled widely in Japan. Mr. Nii is fluent in conversational Japanese. He is licensed to practice architecture in the State of Hawaii since 1979, and has experience in numerous building types with major emphasis in Commercial projects. Mr. Nii is a Corporate Member of the American Institute of Architects and the Hawaii Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. |

Herb S.F. Leong Mr. Leong graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1973. Later in 1976, he received his State of Hawaii license while a member of this firm. In 1977, he returned to the West Coast to set up practice in Pendleton, Oregon. During this period, his experience extended into Commercial, Recreational and Multi-Family Housing in Oregon and Washington. In 1988, he rejoined this firm and continues to maintain his licences in Oregon and Washington.  He is a Corporate Member of the American Institute of Architects and the Hawaii Chapter of the A.I.A. |
